In the case of a longer stay, a tourist visa must be applied for on arrival or online. You can choose between a 10-day, 30-day or 1-year multi-entry visa. Normally, the second option, called 26B, costs 20 OMR.

Travel documents: A passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Oman is required.

It is recommended to carry a copy of your passport at all times for identification purposes and to keep the original document in a safe place.

Health: Health conditions are good, although not comparable to those in Spain. There are public hospitals in all major population centers, with adequate levels of care. There are also good private hospitals. Hospitals are well equipped and doctors usually speak English. Under normal conditions, all foreigners are required to use the private health care system and, only in cases that they cannot afford, are they referred to a public hospital.

Pearl of Arabia underwrites for each traveler a travel health insurance policy with quality coverage with a limit of €300,000 in medical expenses.

Dress: Being a Muslim country, Oman respects the dress of the international visitor as long as he respects the local culture. Likewise, one should dress modestly in sacred places. Women should wear loose clothing with shoulders and knees covered, as well as cover their hair. Men should wear pants below the knee. Any form of nudity is prohibited, including topless sunbathing. The swimsuit should not be worn outside beaches, water parks or swimming pools.

Currency exchange: Euros can be exchanged at all banks and currency exchange offices, as well as U.S. dollars, British pounds and other currencies. The easiest way to exchange money is at the numerous currency exchange offices located in Muscat and the larger cities and towns outside the capital. Money can also be exchanged in banks, hotels and souks. Please note that exchange rates may be more expensive in hotels and at the airport.

There are no restrictions on the entry or exit of foreign currency, but amounts equal to or greater than 6,000 Omani Rials must be declared.

Credit cards are widely accepted and there are numerous ATMs in cities and major towns.

Time difference: Unlike Spain, which has winter and summer time, Oman uses a single time zone throughout the year, which is: Oman (Arabian Standard Time, AST): UTC+4. In short, Oman is 3 hours ahead during European winter time and 2 hours ahead during summer time.

Electricity/Plugs: Current in Oman is 240 volts and plugs are type G, with 3 prongs. It is convenient to carry an adapter.

Mobile/Internet: The prepaid SIM card for Oman is the most practical and economical solution. This SIM will allow you to make local calls and access the Internet without any roaming charges.

Pearl of Arabia provides a local SIM card to each traveler.

Road infrastructure: In general, driving in Oman is quite easy. Oman has an excellent road network and all relevant signs are bilingual (Arabic/English).
Gas stations are spaced at regular intervals and many of them have restrooms and a store selling food and beverages. Gasoline is very cheap (about 0.5 euros/liter). Most roads are monitored by radar.

For tourists, both the Spanish driving license (only for three months) and the international driving license are valid, although the latter has the advantage of including an Arabic translation.

Tipping: The tipping culture is not very well established in Oman. However, if we are happy with the service, it is a gesture that is appreciated, especially by the service personnel. It is advisable to leave 10%.

Photography: It is advisable to request permission from the premises before taking photographs. Photography of certain government buildings and military areas is not permitted. Flying a recreational drone or remotely controlled flying devices without a valid permit is illegal in Oman, punishable by imprisonment and a fine.

Visa: Travelers staying less than 14 days in Oman do not require a visa.
