For several decades, foreign observers have viewed Oman as a peaceful and politically stable state in a region often characterised by instability. They have never supported an armed group and no one has tried to attack on their territory. They welcome diplomatic summits and international peace agreements.

Oman is making gradual progress in the area of women rights. As opposed to other countries in the region, Oman’s Basic law bans discrimination on the basis of gender. Opportunities in higher education are on the rise and opportunities for participation in the workforce are growing as well.
